Mountain of My Dreams: The Book |
Mountain of My Dreams describes the adventures and misadventures of two urban professionals on their 25-year
journey down "the less traveled road." Perhaps the contemporary work most similar to Mountain of My Dreams is
Homer Hickam's trilogy about his roots in a coal mining town in West Virginia. Scientists by training, both Richard and Homer
have a simple, yet engaging story to tell. Despite superficial similarities, their stories couldn't be more different. Homer
tells of a young boy who wants to escape a dying town to follow his dream of working in the space program. Richard, city born
and raised and already working in a high technology Government laboratory, longs to find a more fulfilling life for his family in rural America.
Book 1 (The Early Years) begins the Antony 's "back-to-the-land" story, ending in mid 1985, just prior to their permanent
move to the mountain of their dreams. Book 2 (The Middle Years) continues the story where the first book leaves off. Book
3 (The Later Years) picks up the tale in 1992, bringing the story up to the present. Book 4 (Reflections)
looks back at Richard's life from his early childhood to the present, attempts to put his life's journey into a broader perspective, and tries
to capture the Everyman character of his story.
